DAY CAMP/BASIC EIGHT SKILLS

This course is recommended for Program Aides, day camp staff, or troop volunteers planning outdoor activities, who want to acquire basic outdoor skills without certification for troop camping.

DESCRIPTION

This course is designed to introduce participants to the Eight Basic Outdoor Skills. Instruction includes planning day outings, hikes, cookouts, and other outdoor activities.

TROOP CAMP CERTIFICATION (TCC)

Adult volunteers and girls, 9th grade & older

DESCRIPTION

Learn outdoor skills for camping with troops at established campsites, Girl Scout campsites and state or national parks. Instruction includes four methods of cooking, knots, fire building, tool care, knife safety, food preparation, sanitation, first aid, packing for the weather and planning outdoor trips.

Extensive Kitchen and Trails Training

Adult volunteers and Girl Scouts Program Aides 14 years and older.

DESCRIPTION

Spend your morning discovering the less traveled hiking trails at Camp Mitre Peak.  In the afternoon learn how to work in the kitchen at Camp Mitre Peak. Instruction includes how to plan menus, purchase food and how to cook for large groups. You will be taught to use kitchen appliances, where to find utensils and the proper cleaning techniques in the kitchen.

ADVANCED CAMP CERTIFICATION

Adult volunteers and girls, 10th grade and older

DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this course is to achieve outdoor skills in primitive camping. The course covers site selection, planning, advanced outdoor cooking, packing, tents, compass and more sophisticated outdoor skills.

Troop Travel Training (TTT) and Troop Camp Certification (TCC)
