Adult Leadership Advisor Training: Easy as 1, 2, 3...

Courses are available for adult volunteers and girls 7th grade and older. The leadership courses are listed below.

Step1: New Volunteer Orientation on-line (both English-and Spanish-language versions see link below) will be the first close-up view of the Girl Scout organization for all volunteers. It is designed to introduce volunteers to Girl Scouting and the many rewarding opportunities that Girl Scouting offers girls and adults.

The new orientation integrates ALL volunteers into the council environment and its ways of work and, because the basic program content of the orientation is standardized, the messages shared throughout the council and nationally will be consistent.

Council staff and volunteers can now access the on-line New Volunteer Orientation site. When you log on, please type in the assigned password: discover (or descubrir if using the Spanish-language version of the orientation).

Please fill out the Learning Log (MS Word document) (if you fill it out while completing the training online please request a copy be sent to training@gspb.org) or print and email, fax or mail to training@gspb.org, fax (432-684-5943), mail: Girl Scouts or the Permian Basin, 5217 N Dixie, Odessa, TX 79762.

Step 2: Discover - Leadership Essentials
REQUIRED FOR ALL VOLUNTEERS

Today's Girl Scout Experience and You is the 2nd step of training that all facilitators (leaders, co-leaders and parents involved in troop/groups and school programs) will need to take.

Step 2 of Training (This is a PowerPoint you will need to download then go to slideshow and view show. If you do not have Microsoft PowerPoint or a PowerPoint viewer please download this file first [Windows only]).

Please fill out Registration and Needs Assessment Form (MS Word document) after on-line courses Steps 1 and 2, and to register for Step 3: Connect Class: Leadership Essentials training.

Step 2. Discover - Leadership Essentials Part 2 with Learning Log

Registration and Needs Assessment Form and Fee 3 business days prior to training.

Registration and Needs Assessment Form and fee, $10, must be to the Training Registrar at lease 3 business days prior to the training for you to be considered a registered participant. When you attend the training, You will receive your $10 back in the form of a $10 Girl Scout Shop Coupon, and you will get the new “Difference is Me/We” t-shirt.

DESCRIPTION

The Connect Class – Leadership Essentials is designed to facilitate adult learning and welcomes all leaders to the world of the Girl Scout Leadership Essentials while reviewing all council programs, procedures, policies, guidelines, and Safety-Wise. All three steps are designed to help volunteers use their valuable time wisely. All steps can be done at home if desired. Step 3 must be completed live with a facilitator so that questions and information about the program and council can be adequately covered. The webinar-teleconference system will be on line in mid October, so emails and web postings will announce its arrival.

Completed Learning Log from Step 1 and 2, Safety Wise (if you have received one), pen and paper, enthusiasm and purposeful leadership!
