Opportunities for Adult Volunteers

There are so many ways to volunteer in Girl Scouts. It can be for a day, a week or a month. For girls to benefit from Girl Scouting, they need the guidance of concerned, caring adults. They need you and your time — in fact any spare time will do! You can create a volunteer opportunity that suits your lifestyle. Girl Scouting has a wide variety of volunteer positions that can accommodate your schedule and use your skills. Training is provided for leadership positions.

Fun is one of the obvious benefits of volunteering with Girl Scouts. As a volunteer you can also meet new friends, be a mentor, share your skills, acquire new skills, gain professional development opportunities, and give back to your community by being a role model for tomorrow’s leaders. Consider one of these volunteer positions:

  • Troop Leader & Troop Co-Leader: Adult leaders guide a specific group of girls in planning and carrying out Girl Scout activities. Girl Scouts of the Permian Basin offers comprehensive training to help adults gain the necessary skills needed to provide programming to girls.

  • Troop Committee Member: Adults assist a troop leader by taking on one or more tasks which will help make the troop run smoothly such as keeping troop records, driving or chaperoning, planning or assisting with troop activities, being a First Aider, coordinating the cookie sale or taking outdoor training.

  • Program Presenter: Share a skill or hobby with girls in a one to four-hour program. Programs can be set up to accommodate your schedule.

  • Adopt-A-Class In-School Volunteer: Volunteer to adopt a class of girls and assist the collaboration specialists with implementing curriculum during the school day. Help with the cookie sale, holiday parades or other special events.

  • Interest Group Volunteer: Teen-saavy adults are needed to work with Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts in the STUDIO 2B lunch-time, in-school programs, high adventure trips or allow girls to shadow you for career exploration.

  • Council Trainer: Provide training to adult volunteers including basic leadership, CPR/first aid, outdoor skills, and program aide trainings.

  • Office Assistant: Help with a variety of office work from processing registration forms or bulk mailings to preparing program materials.
