Girl Scouts of the Permian Basin: Camping Resources and Information

Camp Mitre Peak is located between Alpine and Fort Davis in the beautiful Davis Mountains of far West Texas. The camp is nestled in Fern Canyon in the shadow of Mitre Peak, which towers 1600 feet and is an area landmark. Mule deer, raccoons, wild turkeys and other regional wildlife roam freely amongst dramatic rock formations that structure the canyon walls, which sets a beautiful backdrop to the cabins scattered on the hillside. Wild flowers and other native plants abound within the canyon and intermittent flowing stream from two natural pools. Come experience the “Mitre magic”!
